Electrical Service Technician - End of Line Packaging Machinery

Due to recent growth, an opportunity now exists for an experienced Electrical Service Fitter to join our North Brisbane based team on a full-time permanent basis.

Our new team member will be responsible for undertaking installations, servicing and ongoing maintenance on a range of end of line packaging equipment throughout Queensland.  This role offers invaluable experience and insight into the manufacturing industry for local as well as multinational corporations.

Role
You will be responsible for fault-finding and diagnostics to ensure equipment and machines are utilised to their maximum.  When working as part of an installation team you will be required to rerun cables for termination, mount electrical hardware and field devices as well as be a part of the commissioning process.

You will have the requisite ability, confidence and knowledge to:

  • Provide electrical support to the service team and ensure works provide maximum effectiveness

  • Communicate in a clear and professional manner to customers both oral and written

  • Have a proactive approach to problem solving and process improvement

  • Provide reporting and analysis to various levels of management

Skills Required

  • Electrical Mechanic's Licence

  • Driver’s Licence

  • Experience in wiring automation machines and their associated components (including PLC's switchboards, circuit breakers, servo motors, variable speed drives, switching, solenoids, contactors, relays, solid state devices etc.)

  • Experience in wiring new high-speed automation machine installations similar to ours (food processing, conveyors, palletisers, crate erectors etc.)

  • Fault finding and repair of the above types of equipment

  • Reporting – service reports, status updates, safety documentation, risk assessments, preventative maintenance follow up documentation.

  • Willingness to travel interstate (and overseas if required).

  • Supervisory skills (monitoring and mentoring apprentices and other electrical technicians).

  • 3 years' experience in a similar role.

  • Create and maintain a positive working relationship with customers and employees

  • FMCG electrical and mechanical fault finding experience

  • Proven high mechanical aptitude

  • Hands on technical experience installing end of line packaging equipment

  • Ability to interpret electrical and pneumatic drawings

  • Strong interest in software systems

  • Ability to collate and write detailed reports

  • Ability to work unsupervised

  • Willingness to work flexible hours as required

 Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Onsite support

  • Trouble shooting and repair support

  • Training of customer staff

  • Managing and responding to local and interstate breakdowns

  • Identify and rectify electrical and mechanical faults

  • Conduct on-site installations as part of a dedicated team
